Conakry hosted, on February 12, 2026, the 37th Annual Meetings of the Club of Bank and Financial Institution Executives of Africa, bringing together key players from the banking and financial sector around a major issue:

“Financing the African economy: Artificial Intelligence and regulation serving banking efficiency.”

The opening ceremony was presided over by the President of the Club, Dr. Tiraina YAMBAYE, in cooperation with the President of the APB (Professional Association of Banks), Mr. Sidy Mohamed Cherif, and under the high patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Head of Government of the Republic of Guinea, Amadou Oury Bah.

In a context marked by significant financing needs in infrastructure, industrialization, SMEs, and financial inclusion, discussions highlighted the central role of commercial banks as key drivers of economic development, beyond their traditional intermediation function.

The exchanges underscored the strategic potential of Artificial Intelligence to optimize risk management, enhance operational efficiency, and expand access to credit. However, this transformation must be embedded within strong regulatory frameworks that ensure stability and trust in the financial system.

We actively participated in this edition, reaffirming our ambition: to support the transformation of the African financial sector. Through our guarantee and risk-sharing solutions, we facilitate SMEs’ access to financing and support structuring projects. Our objective is to contribute to the sustainable financing of the real economy across the continent.

A powerful message emerged from these meetings: “AI”, symbolizing both Artificial Intelligence and African Initiative. This dual meaning reflects our commitment to building an inclusive, responsible financial system fully aligned with African realities.
